What exactly is Living History?
“Living history is an activity that incorporates historical tools, activities and dress into an interactive presentation that seeks to give observers and participants a sense of stepping back in time. Although it does not necessarily seek to re-enact a specific event in history, living history is similar to, and sometimes incorporates historical re-enactment. Living history is an educational medium used by living history museums, historical sites, heritage interpreters, schools and historical re-enactment groups to educate the public or their own members in particular areas of history, such as clothing styles, pastimes and handicrafts, or to simply convey a sense of the everyday life of a certain period in history”
Green Man Honey & Avalon Candles – Living History Beekeeping and Candle Making Displays are available in a variety of time periods.
- Viking
- Medieval
- Tudor
- Georgian
- Victorian
Other time period displays are possible, but must be booked at least 6 months in advance to make sure that there is enough time to organise/build the appropriate equipment and to prepare everything for the event. I am always interested in new ideas and ways of displaying beekeeping and beeswax candle making.
My displays are booked by established historical event organisers, festivals, museums, town and city councils, companies, associations and private events. I can also provide a variety of workshops for young and old, like for example candle rolling, beeswax wrap making, beeswax lantern making, beekeeping for beginners, honey extraction, beeswax rendering and many more interesting bee-related subjects. No event is too small or too big. I can provide outdoor and indoor displays and I am more than happy to integrate your wishes and ideas into my workshops and displays. Indoor displays will always need access to power sockets!
If you are interested in a ‘tailored’ historical event with a variety of Living History Craft Displays, camps and village life then I am more than happy to plan the event for you.
My Stall is also available to book for yur events. The stall is historical themed and offers a large variety of Beeswax Candles, Honey, Beeswax Wraps, World Honey Sweets and many more interesting bee-related products.
